Philip E. LeBoit, M.D. is Professor of Clinical Pathology and Dermatology at the University of California, San
Francisco. Dr. LeBoit is one of the leading figures in dermatopathology today, as a consultant, author and clinical
investigator. He has written over 100 articles, edited or co-authored 6 books, including the two volume text,
Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, and serves as editor in chief of the American Journal of Dermatopathology and
as co-editor of Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery. His contributions to the literature include the first
comprehensive descriptions of bacillary angiomatosis, primitive polypoid granular cell tumor and fibrosing
disease of renal dialysis. He has given over 200 invited lectures, on every continent except Antarctica
Jeff D. Harvell, M.D. is currently an Assistant Professor of Pathology at
Stanford University Medical Center, where he practices dermatopathology and
general pathology. He is a member of the editorial board of the American
Journal of Dermatopathology and a regular reviewer for the Journal of
Cutaneous Pathology. Dr. Harvell completed residency and fellowship
training at the University of California, San Francisco and Wake Forest
University, respectively, and medical school at the University of Virginia.
He has authored a number of original articles and book chapters on various
facets of dermatopathology, including melanocytic lesions, skin adnexal
neoplasms and inflammatory skin disease.
